Moray’s Christmas Cracker – Let it Snow 2018

Once again the team behind Let it Snow have delivered a spectacular 3 day musical extravaganza in Moray. Generously hosted by St Giles Church of Scotland in Elgin, the Old Fountain Jazz Orchestra and special guests sprinkled a little Christmas magic over the big hearted people of Moray in the days leading up to the festive break.

Launched 4 years ago in support of Lucy’s Fight – the charity started by local Moray girl Lucy Linott after her diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease, the talented group of young musicians have made this event a key date in their busy schedules.

Ryan MacKenzie, the event’s producer says “This 3 day concert wouldn’t be where it is if we didn’t have such an amazing team of musicians, creative minds, production staff and generous sponsors; who give of themselves at the busiest time of the year and travel to Moray each Christmas. This year we were lucky to invite our talented guests from as far a field as New York City, London and Glasgow.

We plan and deliver this unique event because we want to put Moray on the musical map, highlight the amazing talent that this region boasts and instil in the next generation of musicians the desire and opportunities that music, especially jazz music can offer. This year we were especially excited to have been invited to hold jazz workshops at Elgin High School and offer the children of Greenwards Primary School the chance to perform with the band at the first concert.

The single driving force behind all we do is our good friend Lucy and her courageous fight against an indiscriminate disease. We are delighted to have been able to present Lucy’s Fight with £2581.33 this year, taking the grand total Let it Snow has raised in 4 years to £6309.83. We are taking a short Christmas break, then all our attention will be focused on making the 2019 Let it Snow event the best yet.”
